John Rosenthal is an experienced litigator. He has significant experience in a wide variety of litigation matters before State and Federal Courts, and other types of tribunals throughout the country, including the USPTO and the TTAB. His litigation and appellate work includes general business disputes, issues relating to internet marketing under Federal and State law, intellectual property matters (trademarks, trade dress, copyrights, trade secrets), ADA issues, employment matters (discrimination, wrongful termination, sexual harassment, retaliation) and insurance coverage disputes. He has represented several famous artists in the protection of their artwork, and the licensing of such art.
Prior to joining The Internet Law Group, Mr. Rosenthal worked as a commercial litigator at several prominent law firms in California and New York. Mr. Rosenthal also clerked for Federal Judges Hon. Richard Enslen, and Hon. Robert Bell, as well as California Superior Court Judge Peggy Hora. Representative matters handled by Mr. Rosenthal at his prior firms include the following: Silverstein v. Ketterer Brown et al., Case No. 20STCV32861 (Cal. Sup. Ct. March 21, 2021) (granting defendant’s motion to quash for lack of personal jurisdiction); Pierce v. Fordham Univ., 2016 WL 3093994 (S.D.N.Y. June 1, 2016) (affirming dismissal of plaintiff’s discrimination and retaliation claims under Rule 12(b)(6)); Rosolowski v. Guthy Renker LLC et al., 230 Cal. App. 4th 1403 (Oct. 29, 2014) (affirming demurrer for failure to state a claim under Cal. Bus. & Prof. Code sec. 17529.5); Peters v. Molloy College, Case No. 07-CV-2553 (E.D.N.Y Oct. 16, 2013) (granting defendant’s motion for summary judgment); Battiste v. Covenant House, 471 Fed. Appx. 78 (2d Cir. 2012) (affirming dismissal for discovery violations); Software for Moving v. Larosa, 419 Fed. Appx. 41 (2d Cir. 2011) (affirming order compelling arbitration); Versatile v. SAS, 2009 WL 47300825 (E.D. Wis. 2009) (granting motion to transfer venue to New York); Health Alliance Network v. Continental Casualty Ins., 294 Fed. Appx. 680 (2d Cir. 2008) (affirming order awarding plaintiff $7.6 million after jury trial).

Mr. Rosenthal received his Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the Univ. of California, at Berkeley, in May 1987. After graduating from college, Mr. Rosenthal served as an officer in the U.S. Marines Corp in aviation related specialties until August 1995.
Mr. Rosenthal was awarded his Juris Doctorate from the University of Notre Dame Law School in 1999, graduating cum laude, and was the Practice and Procedure Editor of the Notre Dame Law Review.
Mr. Rosenthal was admitted to the California Bar in 2000, and the New York Bar in 2002, as well as being admitted to practice before the United State Federal Court for the Central District of California, the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and the Second Circuit Court of Appeals.
Mr Rosenthal resides in Los Angeles, and is an avid lacrosse and hockey fan, and bourbon collector.
